About Us
Mobile Game Developer Magazine was founded in July 2004. Our target was, and still is, to provide a base site for game developers working in the mobile/wireless industry.
We concentrate on original content, including tutorials, news and video reports. MobileGD allows every member developer to have his own development blog, or join other members in managing a team blog. Interesting posts from these blogs are selected by MobileGD editors and are featured in the usual news stream of the main magazine site.
In addition we’re offering important resources such as a downloads directory (which includes source code sections), Forum, Images gallery (mostly from industry events) etc.
Still, the most important feature here is that everybody, Writing/Managing/Contributing/Reading the site, are people that actually work in the industry. We create games and we have fun. Even here. And so should you!
| Reviewing Games |
We do NOT write/publish game reviews!
Of course we’d love to get your latest game for free and play it in our free time for fun, but seriously, The staff of Mobile Game Developer is composed of developers working in active development studios and stand behind titles that are in the market. This is how we know the industry and the technical issues of making games - and this is excatly why it will be unethical for us to review games which were developed by us or friends of ours.
We do release previews, however, usually along with an interview with the developing company.
If you’re interested to have someone to publish a review on your latest game, there are plenty of excellent sites who will be happy to do that. PocketGamer , Gamespot, Midlet-Review and IGN are only but a few.

| Technical Site Info |
We went through a few technological phases in the life of the site. MobileGD currently runs on Wordpress MU with an original theme based on several known ones. The site had previously worked on Joomla with extensions coded by iJoomla, Azul and the Joomla community. However, we decided against continuing with Joomla as a news platform and we also wanted to give our users thier own blogs, where they could write freely about thier projects.
The forums are based on SMF, MoBase is based on MediaWiki, Gallery is based on Menalto Gallery. As you can see, MobileGD is mostly composed of Open Source software, which we’re happy to endorse and support. Well, we’re a developers site, after all…
