As Adobe releases Flash Lite 3 to the world, Sony Ericsson updates it’s Flash Lite 2.0 Development specs document:

"Adobe® Flash Lite 2.0 is supported by Sony Ericsson’s latest Java
Platform 8 (JP-8) phones – the K850, V640, W910 and Z750 – and the new
Flash Lite 2.0 Developers’ Guidelines summarize specifications and
compliance in addition to giving some general design considerations."

Nokia has asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to ban imports of wireless devices containing Qualcomm chips that allegedly infringe on Nokia patents. Qualcomm, which is battling Nokia on a few legal fronts, did not provide comment. More Info here .

Forum Nokia released the Nokia 6131 NFC SDK with some useful documents. Grab them here:

"The Nokia 6131 NFC SDK allows developers to create and emulate Java applications (MIDlets) for the Nokia 6131 NFC mobile phone. The SDK includes the Contactless Communication API (JSR-257) which enables the use of the Near Field Communications (NFC) features of the Nokia 6131 NFC. In addition to the standard JSR-257 APIs, the SDK includes Nokia NFC specific interfaces and classes. The Nokia 6131 NFC SDK contains a Nokia 6131 NFC phone emulator, Java APIs, sample MIDlets, and documentation."

Sony Ericsson's developers page posted a new article covering the creation of sound in JavaME games.

"Authored by computer scientist and musician Roald Strauss, also known as Mr Lou/Dewfall Productions, this tutorial introduces the subject area of music and sound in mobile gaming, gives an overview of the MIDI file format and MIDI creation tools, and using an arcade-style Java ME game example, guides you through how to create and use an accompanying MIDI track."

This C++ code example demonstrates a simple 3D engine. Everything visible on the screen is rendered in 3D using OpenGL ES; hardware acceleration is supported if available in the device. The application supports S60 3rd Edition and later releases, and it adapts to different screen sizes and orientations. A separate example that supports S60 2nd Edition and Series 80 2nd Edition is available at www.forum.nokia.com . Main classes: OpenGL ES (API), CIdle, Math, CImageDecoder, CAknKeySoundSystem.

Jay Ongg from the official Windows Mobile Team blog posted a new post covering the basics of using MAPI . Here is a snip:

"Messaging is one of the areas that developers have trouble with, partly due to lack of documentation or examples. In order to deal with Messaging stores on a Windows Mobile device, developers have to work with MAPI. Unfortunately, until you get used to it, MAPI isn’t an easy beast to tame.

One of the common questions that we have is, “how do I enumerate all the accounts on a device?” Often, the developer is looking for a particular account by name or with a particular property. I’ll enumerate the steps needed to print out the name of every account on the device."

The post go on covering the basic issues and provide code examples.

S60 Bluetooth driver for Windows XP enables Bluetooth communication from and to the SDK emulator. The driver can be used with any S60 3rd Edition SDK. Support in emulator preferences has been introduced in S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, Supporting Feature Pack 1. Thus, installing the driver to S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS and S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, Maintenance Release requires a couple of additional installation steps.

XmlDataBinding.zip contains an update to the XmlDataBinding.sis that fixes a problem during installion of the .sis file. The version to be replaces gives the following error when installing: "Application not compatible with phone. Continue anyway?. With the updated version the installation proceeds without errors.
